All About Mrs. Johnston!
Mrs. Johnston in 2nd Grade!
My name is Lisa Johnston and I am a 2nd grade teacher here at Sunset Ridge. I am a graduate of ASU West with a degree in Elementary Education and have been teaching here at Sunset Ridge for several years now. I am a native of Arizona and also a product of the Deer Valley District education system! I attended all 12 years (13 including Kindergarten) in the Deer Valley district and could not imagine teaching anywhere else. It is an honor and a privilege to now work alongside some of the most influential people in my own life and give back to the children of the future. My teaching philosophy is pretty simple. I love teaching and every child that walks through my classroom door will be loved as well. As a parent myself, my wish for my own children is that people may love them as I do. That is a promise I give every parent and child that I have the honor of teaching. It is always my number one goal that parents and students alike understand that I will take the best care possible of my students; after that, the rest is easy! We work hard and learn as much as we possibly can. Learning is a gift and I am proud to offer this gift to several young minds every year.
On a personal note, I recently celebrated my 3rd wedding anniversary in March of this year! Lucky for me I am married to my very best friend who is an incredible husband and father. Together my husband and I brought a beautiful baby boy named Ian Wade into this world nearly 2 and 1/2 years ago, and have enjoyed every single second of parenthood! We have also brought another beautiful boy into this world, on November 7, of this year and could not be more elated or thankful to become second time parents! Being a wife, mother, and teacher are the three things I treasure and hold closest to my heart, so please know that your child will be taken care of and loved everyday; but most importantly they will be learning new and wonderful things this year! Every year is a new and exciting journey and as always I am thrilled to be entering the classroom door and ready and willing to offer any and all students the very best gift around… learning!
